John Sweet

In dedication to our dear friend and brother John Sweet, the eagle in our Canal Room will always stand as a tribute to him.

Earle E. Williams

Earle Williams was an active member of the Eagle Hose for 74 years. There was a time when Earle was believed to be the oldest active member, with continuous longevity, of any department in the State of Connecticut, and quite possibly the Nation. At the time of his death, Earle was still serving as an active member of the fire police for the Ansonia Fire Department.  Earle was presented with numerous proclamations from the White House, as well as many local and state level politicians, for his years of dedicated service to the City of Ansonia and her citizens. In addition to his fire service, Earle also served on several of the City committees: including planning and zoning, and inlands-wetlands. Earle's legacy continues to be and inspiration to all of us, and he is still spoken of with admiration to this day. We will remember his candor and spirit always.

The Family and Friends of Earle created the Earle E. Williams Eagle Hose Co #6 Scholarship Fund, and it is administered by the Eagle Hose. The scholarship is an annual award of $250 and it is given to the member of the Ansonia Junior Fire Corps who graduates with a 'B' average, has contributed the most to the fire service, and intends to pursue a degree in Fire Science. In the event that there is no member of the Junior Corps eligible, then it will be awarded to the Graduating Junior Member of ARMS meeting this same criteria.

Clifford Tidmarsh

On May 7, 1990, Eagle Hose established an award to honor Clifford Tidmarsh, who served as the Company Secretary for many years. The award is presented to the member(s) of the Company who most exemplifies Cliff's dedication and spirit towards Eagle Hose and its members.

Les Gardner

On September 5, 1983, an award was established to honor the memory of Les Gardner. This award, endowed by his family, is a scholarship in the amount of $50.00. It is presented to a graduating senior from Emmett O'Brien Regional Vocational-Technical High School. The individual must be active in civic organizations and intends to pursue a career in the business world.
